Daphne Oz, Co-Host The Chew. On new motherhood, the many merits of an extensive robe collection and a (very convincing) reason to keep an unmade bed.
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST NIGHT EVER OF SLEEP?
The first time our daughter, Philomena, slept through the night - at 7 months.
AND YOUR WORST NIGHT?
Probably the night before my wedding - I was too excited!
WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO SLEEP?
Sometimes I fall asleep when I'm putting the kids to sleep around 8, but usually around 11.
WHAT'S ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
A Frederic Malle Un Gardenia La Nuit candle, nipple balm (I use as intended, and as the most amazing lip moisturizer and hair styler in a pinch), my phone, a large carafe of water, a book of short stories (I'm obsessed).
WHAT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP?
Listening to Radiolab podcasts - in the best way! I find them so entertaining.
WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT?
Checking things off my to do lists in my head and trying to commit new tasks to memory so I don't have to get up and write them down. It’s futile.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MIDNIGHT SNACK?
If I'm out, a milkshake and fries, probably. If I'm at home, cereal and milk.
WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO SLEEP?
Nothing. But I own a million absurdly frivolous kimonos, robes, and caftans that I wear whenever I'm not under the covers. I just got a new one from this Australian company I discovered on Instagram that I'm obsessed with called Warriors of the Divine. It has angel wings painted onto a silk kimono...I mean, amazing.
WHAT'S ON YOUR BEDTIME READING LIST?
New Yorker fiction, New York Post, and podcasts.
ARE YOU A NIGHT OWL OR A MORNING PERSON?
WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP?
WHAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU DO IN THE MORNING?
Brush my teeth! I love it.
BED: MADE OR UNMADE?
Ugh, unmade unless there's company coming over. I like the optionality of getting back in. I need to work on this.
