Taryn Toomey, Founder The Class, on avoiding midnight snacks and the diet that’s a total sleep game changer.
WHAT WAS YOUR BEST EVER NIGHT OF SLEEP?
At The Class, we offer a 10-day whole food nutrition program called The Layer. When I eat that clean and prioritize self-care, I get the deepest sleep. It’s the kind of sleep where you lay down and don’t move until the next morning. What you put into your body affects everything!
AND YOUR WORST NIGHT?
When my children were newborns. It's called 'as-soon-as-you-fall-asleep-is-when-they-wake-up' and vice versa.
WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO SLEEP?
Between 9 and 10pm.
WHAT'S ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
My phone charger, a notebook, a pen and a good book.
WHAT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP?
WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT?
My mind. And caffeine too late in the day.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MIDNIGHT SNACK?
I stay away from those at all costs!!
WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO SLEEP?
A little Natori nightgown or silk shorts.
WHAT'S ON YOUR BEDTIME READING LIST?
It depends. Right now I am reading Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander but I love to reread sections of The Language of Emotions. And sadly, I have to admit it: my iPhone.
ARE YOU A NIGHT OWN OR MORNING PERSON?
WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP?
When my kids wake me (earlier than I would like). Usually between 6 and 6:30am if I'm lucky.
WHAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU DO IN THE MORNING?
Brush my teeth, make a turmeric tonic from The Layer, and begin making breakfast for the kids.
