Hill House Home turns TWO today! Meet Allie Blitz, our Chief Product Officer, whose vision transcends all aspects of our company—from our digital to physical products—creating a holistic retail experience. Read more about our resident design guru and problem solver below.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
West Village, New York City.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN YOUR CURRENT PLACE?
A year and a half.
WHAT’S ONE THING EVERY BEDROOM SHOULD HAVE?
An iPhone charger.
WHAT’S YOUR BEDTIME ROUTINE?
I've never said no to an episode of TV and a glass of red wine...of course, washing my face and brushing my teeth are a must.
WHAT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP RIGHT AWAY?
A little closet reorganizing and cleaning, which sometimes includes some color-coding, relaxes me. I sleep like a baby when I know everything is organized and all set for the next day!
WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE?
Listening to Hidden Brain podcasts.
WHAT’S ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
I usually have a few types of water on my bedside table—one or two bottles of flat water, and a bottle of sparkling in case the mood strikes!
WORKING WITH THE DREAM TEAM
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE HILL HOUSE HOME PRODUCT?
WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE DREAM TEAM?
I started in Fall 2016 during my second year of grad school.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE YOU JOINED?
I was in graduate school! I completed my master's in Strategic Design and Management from Parsons in Spring 2017.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON RECENTLY?
We just opened our first retail store, so I’ve been working to synchronize our consistent, exceptional customer experience in-store and online.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE OFFICE SNACK?
WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO OFFICE ORDER?
Ordering from three separate restaurants, preferably in different cuisine categories.
TELL US ABOUT A NOTEWORTHY HILL HOUSE HOME MOMENT.
When I had to carry a 10,000-pound embroidery machine...
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE LOOKING FOR A JOB IN YOUR FIELD?
Nell tells us: “Shoot for the moon—if you fall, you’ll land among the stars.” But seriously, find people you love and people from whom you can learn (and quote in an answer to a question like this one day).
WHAT DID YOU LEAST EXPECT WHEN YOU STARTED?
How much we can accomplish as a small team when we set our minds to something. It really does get you further than a big budget and a large team of people that are afraid to think outside of the box.
RAPID FIRE FAVORITES
Hotel? Hotel de Russie in Rome.
Midnight Snack? Pesto pasta.
Breakfast? Baguette with great butter and jam.
