In celebration of our in-store collaboration with The Lacquer Company, we sat down with founder James Lowther to discuss bircher muesli breakfasts and birthday suits.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
London, Maida Vale.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN YOUR CURRENT PLACE?
3 years.

WHAT’S ONE THING EVERY BEDROOM SHOULD HAVE?
A supremely comfy bed, good lighting…and blackout blinds.

WHAT’S YOUR BEDTIME ROUTINE?
On a healthy night, I have a shot of liquid magnesium and then slather my face with Damascan Rose oil. Lol.

WHAT PUTS YOU TO SLEEP RIGHT AWAY?
My meditation app works in seconds.

WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE?
Time zones. Good morning, Vietnam!

WHAT’S ON YOUR BEDSIDE TABLE?
A mini orchid, one of my blue lacquer lamps and various lotions and potions.

WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU DO IN THE MORNING?
I’m proud to say, I usually leap out of bed.

CURRENT BEDTIME READING?
I currently have a stack of recipe books by my bed as my New Year’s resolution is to entertain more.

RAPID FIRE FAVORITES:

Hotel? Amanpuri.

Midnight Snack? Heaven forbid!

Breakfast? Oatmeal, bircher muesli or something with chia seeds.

Sound to fall asleep to? Crashing waves.

Sleepwear? Birthday suit.

Best night’s sleep? A recent yoga retreat at Kamalaya produced some of the soundest sleep in years.

Worst night's sleep? A direct night flight from LA to Miami was diverted via Las Vegas and Phoenix. The worst!
