WORKING WITH THE DREAM TEAM
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE HILL HOUSE HOME PRODUCT?
The Quentin Robe, named for a character from one of my all-time favorite books. The fabric feels so luxe and the cut is so considered and flattering. Putting it on after I shower every morning makes me feel like a queen.
WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE DREAM TEAM?
WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE YOU JOINED?
I was an Analyst at a Retail and Consumer Private Equity Firm.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON RECENTLY?
As COO, I'm involved in all of Hill House Home's projects! One recent initiative has been figuring out the logistics for HHH Bespoke, our new made-to-order service that allows customers to collaborate with our team to design completely custom bedding and monograms, in the fabric and colors of their choice. We just did a suite for a restored farmhouse outside of Siena, taking monogram inspiration from the cypress trees that are ubiquitous to the region. We worked on a two-week lead time (stressful!), but the client was so excited about putting the finishing touches on this years-long passion project. It was such a rewarding process—I can't wait to see what other creative and beautiful combinations our clients come up with.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE OFFICE SNACK?
Lay's potato chips and Diet Coke.
WHAT'S YOUR GO-TO LUNCH ORDER?
Dumplings from Nom Wah Tea Parlor...perks of working on Canal Street.
TELL US ABOUT A NOTEWORTHY HILL HOUSE HOME MOMENT.
The thoughtfulness of our customers always blows me away. A lovely woman emailed in last year wanting to order custom mini pillows for all of the women in her extended family, embroidered with something her late mother had said, "I am a lucky girl." She had uttered these words with a smile on her face, after recounting a family vacation from decades ago, and the client wanted the pillows to serve as a reminder of how lucky we all are. After she gifted the pillows, one of the recipients emailed in to thank us, and to let us know how much they meant to this family. Being a part of these deeply personal, human moments for our customers is totally surreal.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE LOOKING FOR A JOB IN YOUR FIELD?
Look for a team you believe in.
WHAT DID YOU LEAST EXPECT WHEN YOU STARTED?
I was surprised by how quickly people seem to understand what we're trying to do differently. I truly believe that Hill House Home is alone in offering high quality, thoughtfully designed, modern and customizable bedding products in a simple and relatively affordable way. As a result, we're effectively asking our customers to think about their beds differently than they did before. I expected our audience to need more convincing before they'd be willing to give us a try—particularly given our price point—but in practice that hasn't been the case. Our customers are frustrated with the quality of low-end bedding and the price and dated designs of luxury options, and they really do understand the importance of sleeping on sheets that bring you happiness. It's been an encouraging surprise!
