The Marietta Dress

I love Hill House so much and this dress was the first miss from the brand which is even more disappointing as it is also the highest price tag on the website.

Another review noted the dress feels like a “kids rain coat” and I was hoping to be wrong but find the material to be exactly as so or like a plastic table cover.

The silhouette is beautiful but for a formal event, the material ruins any look, it looks like a low quality dress.

A couple of notes on the dress -- First, it is very pretty. I might have just gotten a funky one, but the blue background on the dress I received is darker in person than it is in the photos, so the print blends in more than I expected / like, but the pattern is still nice. The fabric is nice because it clearly won't wrinkle, but it honestly doesn't feel as luxe as you might expect for the price point. (Kind of feels like a kids rain coat? Hard to explain.) I would suggest buying a couple of sizes to try-- I am 5'8 and weigh 150 with a long torso and usually wear a small / 6 size range in dresses. I found the size six to be both too lose (similar issue with the oversized top as another reviewer noted), and then too tight at the hips. (Almost couldn't pull the dress down and I'm not even that curvy!) The fabric has zero give at the hips so may be worth grabbing a second size for anyone with that consideration in mind. Overall, a nice dress but I'm going to return and check out some other HHH dresses.

The color and print of this dress is stunning. Just gorgeous on. Top does fit a bit big for me but was very easy to alter. While the fabric is thick (which is great, no wrinkling) it still feels incredibly light when you wear it. Planning to wear for an upcoming summer wedding. Gorgeous.
