The Carolina Shirt Dress

I have many, many nap dresses but this is my new favorite HH dress! Perfect for work, brunch, really anytime I want to wear an easy, comfortable but still flattering and well-tailored outfit. PLEASE make this in more colors/patterns!!!

I'm typically a 10/12 in bottoms and an 8/10 in tops so went for a L in this dress which was the perfect choice (I wear a M in the Ellie & Athena and a L in the Daphne & Louisa). The fabric is a beautiful weighty cotton that drapes well with the 2% spandex and the Navy Emma Stripe pattern is vibrant. The belt has some stretch with the smocking on the back, but is intended to be snug for a tailored hourglass effect. Note that the belt is attached and does not appear to be adjustable like the description says; it closes with a row of hook-and-eye closures at the front but if I ever need to have it taken in, I'll have to get it tailored.

The Carolina is as close to perfect as I’ve seen in a tailored shirt dress. The fabric is thick but drapes well and has stretch, the patterns are unique and the Emma Stripe is placed so that it lengthens and slims, the sizing is right on, and the belt at the waist adds a unique and extremely functional detail.

Sizing is true to size. The bust will accommodate most. The belt - It stretches, but it is attached and meant to be a little taught to give you the hourglass effect. Length is a midi, but at 5’1 it still hit me in a nice place and didn’t look like the dress was overwhelming my frame.

This is one for so many occasions (work, brunch, dinner date, theater) and doesn’t need any extras to look put together. It’s an outfit that stands on its own.
