The Scarlett Nap Dress

While I have owned and loved many HH pieces for 6+ years, I was very disappointed in the quality of this dress. It is an adorable fit and I commend them for making a dress with a proper lining, but after washing a handful of times, the smocking started coming undone. I took it to my tailor and they said they didn’t feel comfortable fixing it since they did not have the HH proprietary smocking machine - even if they could, I find it ridiculous to pay a tailor to fix a manufacturing flaw on an item at this price point. This is not the only nap dress I have purchased recently where I have had this issue, even washing on gentle with similar dresses (no zippers) and air drying. None of my older pieces have had this issue despite being worn and washed more. I used to endorse HH for having pieces that consistently washed well, especially for easy in-office outfits. I have now warned my friends that Hill House has started prioritizing the quantity of drops over the quality of drops, all while raising the price.
