Next to my Bed: Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton

Welcome to our latest installment of Next to My Bed, a feature on Hill House Home's 40 Winks Blog that takes an up close and personal look at what some of our friends keep next to their bed.

Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton,

CEO & Founder of Chillhouse

Whether you are quarantining at home or elsewhere, you still have that little area next to your bed, and we are still interested in what you keep there. Especially if you are Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton, the Founder & CEO of Chillhouse, which is, if we dare say, exactly what we need right now: A. Chill. House. Ramirez-Fulton is currently quarantining away from her usual digs in New York but did her due diligence prior to leaving the city to ensure ultimate comfort. “We shipped down our duvet, our pillows, my pregnancy pillows…I need my pillows.” Here, what she is currently keeping next to her bed.

What side of the bed do you sleep on?

The right side of the bed. I’m sleeping on my left side mostly because, pregnancy-wise, that’s what I’m supposed to be doing. But I always end up on my right side. Normally I sleep on my right side, so it’s been a challenge. I’ve been alternating between what I’m supposed to be doing and old habits.

What can you not sleep without?

I can’t sleep without going to pee right before I go to bed and having a glass of water next to the bed.

What is currently next to your bed, furniture wise?

I keep a few things on the nightstand: an eye mask, even though I never use it, I like to have it there in case I need it. I’ve also been keeping my belly stretch creams/butters. I’ve usually been doing that as a last step in my self-care practice.

What is the strangest thing that's next to your bed?

I don’t know if there’s anything really strange next to my bed! The strangest thing that I do, because sometimes I can’t fall asleep naturally, is I turn on Netflix and put on New Girl or Friends – I alternate between a bunch of shows that I can just put on that make me doze off because I already kind of know them. It’s sort of like a natural decompression.

Do you keep any electronics next to your bed?

I do a digital once over on most things before going to sleep. TikTok has been my new right before bed ritual, which is terrible because I go to sleep with these songs in my head and I can’t stop thinking about the songs and I go into this deep rabbit hole. It’s been a bad digital fixation that I’m trying to break. It’s so entertaining, though.

What is your pre-sleep pregnancy beauty routine?

I’m not always so good. If I’m being good at night, I’ll use a gentle cleanser. Sometimes I’ll do an overnight mask. Since I don’t have all my products with me while quarantining, I’ve really just been using my nighttime oils, alternating between Caudalie and Elemis. And then my belly routine, which alternates between Kate McLeod's Mama Stone and Mutha's Body Butter
